Oy!

Well I've arrived!
Greetings from across the Pond!
Its my second day! and what a trip so far...
The flight wasn't too bad. We took off a little late due to the snow, but we arrived pretty much as scheduled. Luckliy there was nobody in the seat beside me, so I was allowed a little extra leg room. It came in hand when trying to sleep.
Once I landed, it was a quick trip through customs, and my bag was passing by as soon as I hit the carrosel so I was out of the airport within 30 mins.
I headed across the street to the train station, and along the way discovered just how heavy my bag really was. And let me tell you, it's heavy.
I caught the train at 10:29 and had a great ride from Manchester to Blackpool. The view was amazingly beautiful, whether it was the country side, or the architecture. I can't wait to take more trips abroad.
Once in Blackpool I found my way to the Walkabout. By this time it was almost one and it had started to rain - shocking. Nick and Lindsay (the managers) showed me to my room and I got to take a long hot shower. I'm currently rooming with another girl from Canada and it feels just like im back in college.
All the other staff are travelling as well, and everyones been really welcoming. Theres a few that are from England, but most are Auzzies. One girl just got back from a month in Spain, and my roomie just told me she took a round trip to Dublin for 99 pence. Thats not even 2 dollars.
wtf.
Last night we headed to the pub and I had my first round of darts! I suck. Hopefully I'll be able to work on my skills, because it seems quite popular with the group.
This morning I woke up early to go get groceries and some flatware. I learned quickly that the food selection in Blackpool doesn't do very well for your health. Everything is either with fries, or fried itself. And holy bacon! Its everywhere. (Yesterday I had real irish sheppards pie - sooo tasty) I ended up getting all my faves - cereal, apples and peanut butter.
At 10am we started cleaning up the pub, getting it ready for Fridays big opening. Unfortunately, while cleaning my section of the pub I slipped on the stairs and sprained my ankle. It swelled up like a balloon and I had to have Nick carry me up to my room. Oh, did I forget to mention? This building is made of stairs. I have to go up about 5 flights to get to my room. I'm spending the rest of the day in bed - as ordered - and missing out on setting up. It sucks. But at least its not broken! And thank goodness for travel insurance.
Tonight we're testing the menu and training on the pub computers. Hopefully I can get someone to piggyback me down stairs!
Aside from my fall, I'm doing well. It's taking some adjusting but I'm settling in well. Yesterday was hard, but tomorrow will be better.
Once I figure out how, I'll add some photos. But that will have to wait! I'm off to ice my baseball. I mean ankle.
Cheers!
K
