Hey Everyone!
It's been quite a while since my last post. I guess I didn't feel the same need to update photos from my daily life anymore. Who wants to see me at work or in the grocery store. But I'm pretty much adjusted now to the old Mississauga lifestyle I used to have, and I realised how much I miss blogging. So here it is... a new chapter!
The Return to my Normal (but still exciting) Life
I miss travelling and meeting new people more than I expected, so it's been hard to get into a settled groove. My lil head is still in the clouds (dreaming away) so I'm trying to distract myself with productive thoughts and actions!
I celebrated birthdays with family, hit up the Toronto Exibition, tried out some new recipes and went to my first Leafs game!
I'm currently back to work at the Franklin house and saving my dough, so I can pay off my student loan. I just got word that my car is all payed for so I'm SUPER happy about that! Now to be rid of that dreaded OSAP loan.
I'm also back at the yoga studio and stretching my little heart out! (literally) It took a few weeks but by September I was once again a regular Yogi. It took a few sessions to realise that I lost a lot of my muscle tone and that I would have to start all over. It's harder than I remember it being but I'm slowly getting better.

I noticed that after a few weeks of normal routine I still wasn't feeling like my normal perky energetic self. I brought this up to one of the women I work with and after a long chat, I took her advice and started myself on a new diet. I decided to go RAW! Thats right. From Burgers to Bean Sprouts!
"Raw foodism (or rawism) is the practice of consuming uncooked, unprocessed, and often organic foods as a large percentage of the diet"
For 21 days, I have committed myself to eating purely raw and unprocessed foods! Its been 7 days so far and I'm looking forward to the next 2 weeks. Unfortunately, as some of you may have noticed, this runs right through Thanksgiving weekend! The great thing about this new method of eating though is that you can take it as far as you choose, when you choose. I've given up milk, yogurt, any and all kinds of processed sugars (including Starbucks hot chocolate unfortunately), meat, rice, bread, popcorn, crackers and CEREAL! And if any of you know me, you know how much I adore cereal. So it hasn't been easy! But I'm learning lots about alternative options out there and how much fun "uncooking" with whole and natural foods can be. I've just recently started sprouting my own grains and seeds and have learned to make wraps with collard greens. SO GOOD!
Sprouting Grains! Kamut, Mung Beans and Lentils. |
But as I've said, if I choose (and I have chosen), its OK to eat cooked things once and a while. I enjoy baked salmon, scrambled eggs, roasted turkey and yes, pecan pie! (because I wouldn't want to upset my grandmother).
I've noticed already that my taste buds are more sensitive, I don't have strong cravings and my head is super clear. Kinda light.... a little dizzy sometimes! But I'm happy and energetic, so it is definitely working.
If your interested in more info, you could check out Raw Food.
I read Natalia Roses book "Raw Food Life Force Energy" and found it pretty usefull - for the first 21 days anyways.
And thats it! So...in the spirit of Thanksgiving, I'd like to thank everyone for reading! I'll keep you all updated on my sprouts, cause I know you care.
Have a great weekend!
xx
