Play time is almost over...

Well, in the Eu anyways. Only 15 days left till I go back to the UK!!!

I can't believe 3 months have flown by so fast!
My 90 days in the EU are almost up, and I still have so much to see. This weekend was quite the whirl wind in the Czech Republic.

Prague!

I arrived in Prague on Thursday evening but spent the first 2 hours searching for my credit card! I met my host Juraj (pronounced Uri... this language is just gibberish gobly goo to me) at his flat, as well as the other girl he was hosting. Tiffany is 24 and from Arizona. Shes been in Europe for about 8 months though studying in France. In September she starts working as an au pair in Belgium. We had an AMAZING weekend together!! It was so great to meet a girl my age and tour the city together! Thursday night we drank on the streets and looked for """ TRUE LOVE""" on Charles Bridge.

Apparently thats where you find your soul mate. We only saw couples and drunk students though
Friday we had lunch on the street
mmm BBQ and potato dumplings!!
then took a paddle boat and drifted down the river. We happened to run into 2 other boats full of dudes from Manchester who were having a "Stag-do". We all ended up drinking at the pub by the river and hanging out all night.

Unfortunately we didnt get in till 330 am... and were supposed to be up at 530 to catch a train to Olomouc (a little town close by). But it was well worth it!
We caught the 7 am train and were in town by lunch. Our host George met us and took our stuff so we didnt have to carry it. Then we caught another train and went to the NEXT town called Kromneriz.

Tiffany, Juraj and I. And the worlds smallest train!!

We toured around a bit and were lucky enough to catch a historical reinacment about the swedes invading? or something.. it was really hot! I dont remember... But we went up an awesome tower and took a little winery tour under a castle.

The reinactment. It was very loud...

Overall a great day! We headed back to Olomouc for dinner and were surprised to find our host and another guest cooking for us! We had a delicious BBQ with salad out in the backyard. I took the roll as BBQ Queen - cause lets be honest,  who BBQs better than a Canadian!

Me, Juraj, Lucy, Georg and Tiffany

We decided to end the night with a video since we were all completely exhausted from the heat. Let me just say, watching a holocaust movie when your right next to Polond is very strange! But "The Pianist" gets 5 stars from me... great movie!
Unfortunately Tiffany had to leave on Sunday, so after breakfast and a quick tour of Olomouc we took her to the station. I was pretty sad to loose my touring buddy.

At the Astronomical clock in Olomouc.

The rest of our sunday was spent driving around with Georg and Lucy. We went to see a gorgeous church (up a GIGANTIC hill) with a lovely view!  And then headed over to a cute little castle. I got to hold a bird!

Then we took a drive over to the waterfalls and took a hike through the woods. They were down hill! ... But then we had to walk back up. It was an exhausting day.

Once we got back to the house Georg cooked us a yummy traditional Czech dinner and drove us to the station. We had a 2 hr train ride back to Prague and didnt end up getting back till 1230. Me and Juraj were pretty beat by then so after some tea, it was time for bed!!
The next day I toured around the city and saw some of the sights. More castles and churches and pretty buildings... Prague really is lovely! But i was a bit down since Tiff had left and Juraj was sick. It was back to travelling alone! It was hard after a weekend full of people!

Yesterday I toured some more and saw the Jewish ghetto. I missed it the day before but since my bus didn't leave until 5pm, I had time to kill. Thankfully I didnt need to book for my ticket online, as I dont have my credit card! Im hoping I can get one sent to Berlin because im going to need one to book for transport in the future. Especially the flight back home!
I got to Berlin last night around 10pm and somehow found my way to my hosts flat. Luckily people in Germany speak English more fluently than in the Czech Republic. It was a real struggle trying to get help from locals while in Prague.
Today Im taking it easy... me and Patryk went for a bike ride around the city and did some chores. It was actually quite productive. I finally mailed the post cards I've been carrying around since Switzerland! This evening I'll head into the main centre and find a map of the city. I was surprised by how large it is! I haven't seen a city this big since Rome. You can read about it here:
Berlin!
Tonight I think were heading to a CS gathering. Berlin has a pretty active community so im sure there will be tons of people.
But for now, I gotta get up and get a move on!

Ciao!
